SMITH and FERMOR CHARITIES

Distribution of Charity Funds

This Charity benefits from trusts created many years ago and receives monies for the benefit of the poor and needy of Rotherfield and Crowborough. The Charity still receives reasonable sums each year but the number of cases that come to us for consideration has dwindled.

Grants are available for those in need that cannot get help from any other source. The main qualification is that the recipient should live in the area of the ancient parish of Rotherfield. This comprises the current administrative parish of Rotherfield, which includes Town Row, Mark Cross, Boars Head, parts of Eridge and the surrounding rural areas, together with Crowborough Town.

The trustees consider all applications sympathetically within the terms of the governing trust deed and grants have, for example, been made to fund equipment for a severely handicapped person and for pupils with learning difficulties at a local school.

If you wish to apply or you come across cases that you believe we may be able to help, please contact our Secretary at Rotherfield Parish Council, Brambletye, New Road, Rotherfield TN6 3JT or by e-mail on rotherfieldpc@yahoo.co.uk.

You may be assured that complete confidentiality will be preserved.

Nigel Primrose, Chairman of the Trustees
